It’s Monday, our favorite day of the week! Our Monday Medi Moments are nutrient-packed 15-20 minute workshops. Each month has a theme (this month the theme is love) and each Monday we present a facet/topic of the monthly theme. Each episode kicks off with a mindfulness lesson and exercise, and our episodes end with a soothing meditation.

If you’d like to skip directly to this week’s meditation, jump ahead to 8:50.

Fun fact: This month is Heart Month. One in five women die of cardiovascular disease, making it the number one cause of death in the United States. We do Monday Medi Moments to give you the tools to be more grounded and relaxed in your body.

Our theme this month is love. Everything that’s real in life comes from love!

This week’s lesson: Love is the energy of the heart.

What are the aspects of a loving heart? Unconditional love, compassion, humility, joy, kindness, peace, gratitude, simplicity, patience, authenticity, potential, purpose, and so on.

This month we’ll be talking a lot about the fourth chakra (heart chakra), which says, “I relate” and is located at the midpoint of the sternum. The color is emerald green and the gland relationship is the thymus. The fourth chakra is associated with the ability to connect with others, unconditional love, connection, affinity, ethics, values, and relationships. It’s the heart’s desire and the seat of the soul. It’s our inner teacher. We say the heart is the access point for transformation, connecting the agenda of the soul with the mind, body, and action; connecting through the understanding of unconditional love, wisdom, and the intelligence of the intuitive heart.

This week’s exercise: Cultivate love by spreading kindness.

Small acts of kindness make a huge impact. This week and every week, be generous of spirit. When you see an opportunity where you can be kind, do it. Spread your love and bring love to the surface. When you’re experiencing conflict with someone, bring kindness and humility to the situation.

“You can’t be afraid and love at the same time.” – Deanna

With each and every breath, allow the radiance of your heart to expand past your body. Sense the energy of your heart connecting to the heart of all things, expanding to infinity and radiating back to you.

“A life without love is of no account. Don’t ask yourself what kind of love you should seek, spiritual or material, divine or mundane, eastern or western. Divisions only lead to more divisions. Love has no labels, no definitions. It is what is, pure and simple. Love is the water of life. And a lover is a soul of fire! The universe turns differently when fire loves water.” – Shams Tabrizi
